Bruising Loss Puts Oilers Against The Wall

Edmonton Oilers Face Great Odds in Final

Bruising loss puts Oilers against the wall

Series Deficit Puts Pressure on Oilers

EDMONTON, Alta. - The Edmonton Oilers find themselves in an early hole against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers dropped Game 2 of the series at home on Monday, falling 4-1 and giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Oilers were outplayed in all facets of the game. They were outshot 35-21, including 15-4 in the third period. They also lost the faceoff battle, 61 percent to 39 percent, and were unable to take advantage of their one power play opportunity.

The loss puts the Oilers in a precarious position. No team has ever come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the Stanley Cup Final, and the Oilers will have to do it on the road in Games 3 and 4.

The Oilers will need to find a way to generate more offense. They have scored just one goal in the first two games of the series and have been held to an average of 2.0 shots per game.
